I won this 629 ND on GB a few weeks ago.
Original shipping container, blue box and presentation case. Wax paper. The whole shebang. $1285 after T and F.
I figured a pretty good deal for the whole kit.
The cylinder swing out was a little slow but after a clean and oil got there it’s great.

Also picked up the 29-2 Nickel in 6.5.
A nice pair.
Already shot them both.
The 29 obviously Hadn’t been looked at in a long time.
I gave you a good thorough cleaning outside and in And after a little Flitz it came up very nice.

Nice, both appear to be in excellent condition. Can you provide a picture or two of the presentation case the 29-2 is in, the inside especially in daylight? I can't tell for sure from the one picture but you might have something a little special there even if not correct for the 29-2. Do you have any history on that box? Or perhaps the inside material has been replaced?

Hey Jeff,
Here is the original on Gunbroker.
I am actually overseas right now and won’t be able to get any other pictures until late December, but I’d certainly be interested if there’s something going on.
I did change the Stocks So it was in keeping with the rest of the target football cut Collection I have.
I still have the smooth ones of course

Just a moment...

I'm envious. Mine is a ND and has the recessed cylinder but no pinned barrel. Smith must have been using up left over parts before the transition to the -1 version.

629s

I see a pinned barrel and recess cylinder on your 629 but the question is "does it have an "N" serial prefix"? This would make it an early 629! The 6" guns were brought out in 1979 with the 4" and 8 3/8" guns being introduced in about 1982 and shortly after S&W went to the "ABCxxxx" serial numbering system.

As already pointed out by 22hipower, the presentation case with your 29-2 is probably a special case with a Velour cloth covering on the liners. It is usually associated with the introduction of the mode 57 in 1964. It is, by far, the best liner S&W ever made and was used only for about 1 year or less!
IMHO, jcelect

Sounds like you did well on that 629. I have a 4 inch and a 8 3/8 inch no dash. I was able to get them for under $1000 each a while back. Still looking for a 6 inch.

Yes indeed. An N prefix.
The way I see it, the 629’s were really 29-2 stainless.
I’m starting to photograph all my revolvers with serial number so I have a record.
I’ve done 9 and will get to the rest shortly

There is a gentleman here that will get that presentation case looking like new. His name at the moment escapes me. Someone will post it.
