629 non interchangeable front sight ?

I am looking at a 629-4 with a 4" barrel that has the front sight integral to the rib/ramp on the barrel. There is no pin to drive out to replace the blade?

This is not typical of the few 629s I have handled which either had a pinned front sight or the spring loaded front sight blade.

Could this be a factory barrel?

It has a pin. It's just polished so smooth with the ramp that you can't see it. Look at the sight in different angles of light and different light.

A -4 should have a pinned front sight. I’m not sure if earlier versions like a “no dash” were integral. If so, a barrel swap could have happened.

I am not able to look at it in person, just online pictures which appear quite clear. Additionally the front sight blade appears to be matt stainless- rather than black. Did Smith and Wesson make 4" barrels with integral front sights for 629s?

I also have 2 mod 629-4s with integral front sight, no pin. One is a 4 inch and the other a 6 inch.

Mountain gun 629-4 will have pinned front ramp sight.
