After cleaning and oiling, I double wrap mine in wax paper, then cased up. Never a problem.

Except for a couple of firearms that I keep handy, the rest reside in my gun safe or steel gun storage cabinet. Those are both inside our air conditioned house. I never store my handguns in boxes or socks or rugs...I like to let them breathe and let air circulate around them. I use a combination of pistol racks and hangers in the safe for revolvers, and I keep pistols and magazines in a gun safe door panel.

I just did the dumbass thing and followed the instructions, kept it clean and lubed and in the crappy box the gun came in. Took it out for a looksee, firt time in maybe 5 months. And was not happy,

the foam liner went to hell, was sticky, has a slight blemish spot on the cylinder that is so small I wonder if it was a defect in the manufacturing process. I havent had time to fondle my guns in good long time.

the wax paper seems interesting

After shooting, my guns get cleaned, a light oil film left on them and stored in their original boxes wrapped in the VCI paper they came in. Some of the VCI paper has been replaced for wrapping however the original has been saved. Then into the safe they go.

i can see paper with and without a wax coating as well as vci poly bags.

I use old towels that have started getting loose threads. They provide breathable padded protection.

I find that Rig is one of the best oils to use when wiping them down for storage.

Ours are stored in gun safes. I would be nervous storing them in or on anything that might retain or attract moisture. Recently, there was an auction with several Linebaugh revolvers that had rust issues. Don't know what happened. Bad enough with a $500+ gun let alone a $5,000+ gun.

A word to the wise: DO NOT store any Ivory-Grip Guns in the original Smith & Wesson Brown VPI Paper, the chemicals in the paper will gradually leech into the Ivory where the paper hard-contacts the ivory and turn it brown. This can be bleached out very carefully over a long period of time but it's on a case by case basis. Don't ask me how I know this.
