This is my first post here and I thought it a good opportunity to show off the revolver I picked up at the gun show.

This is my first "Pinned" model, and besides being collectible I'm not sure if this is a desirable feature or not. I would estimate it's in 90-95% condition and I walked away with it for $300. Looking at similar prices online I think I got a good deal. The SN is 1D73918 if anyone is able to provide a rough date I would appreciate it. I also need a holster for it, as I plan to carry it concealed, but I'm not having much luck finding a leather one in a cross draw model.

Thanks Steve. I was guessing that time frame. I plan to put some rounds through it tomorrow, and I expect it to be a nice shooter.

Good score! Those are great guns and are getting tough to find in nice shape.

you did real good, they are great carry guns!

Very nice find. I am always extremely jealous of gun show finds like these. I saw nothing like this fine 64-2 at the last show I went to.

Thanks. It was a very small booth, he had only one glass case with 3 or 4 handguns, and it just happened to catch my eye. It's spots like these that I find the best stuff and folks willing to negotiate on price.

Good find at a good price. I have a 64-5 with a 3.0 inch barrel that I'm quite fond of. You mentioned trying to find a leather cross-draw holster for concealed carry. Frankly, I don't think you'll be happy with a cross-draw holster. I have one - a Bianchi - that is a classic cross-draw holster that was given to me years ago for my Model 66 with 2.5 inch barrel. I found the Model 66 easier to conceal, and faster to access with a good strong side holster - either in the waistband (IWB) or outside the waistband (OWB). Slightly slower, for me, was a shoulder holster. Not being a law enforcement type, I've never had any training in weapons retention, and cross-draw holsters are obviously optimally positioned for someone directly in front of you. You might want to ask for used holsters at your local gun store(s). Most gun stores take in used gun leather at no extra cost when buying used guns, and then place the used holsters in a box for sale at what can be a pretty good price. This may be a good way for you to find a cross draw holster at a decent price so you can judge for yourself.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum.

Regards,

Dave

Good find. I have not seen any buys like that in my area for a while. At a gun show in my area they would have had it priced for $600 or more and probably talked down to maby $500 or $550.
For a holster I would treat myself to a Lobo Enhanced Pancake and Add the Optional Inner Hammer Shield.

That should make you a great carry gun. A 2" 64 is a very Shootable Platform, much easier to shoot well than a J Frame. No idea where you live, or what you do. This time of year where I live. I would have 2 shotshells and 4 semi wadcutters in it for the next five months unless I were headed to town. That 2" 64 would be great for protection from both 2 legged as well as the crawling variety of snakes.

Again Good Find, you did very well.

Bob
