64-5 Info

Looking at a 64-5 S&W 4" barrel. Couple of questions. It has the new style cylinder release, does anyone know when S&W switched to the new style. #2 Does anyone know if this revolver is +P capable/safe.

The new thumbpiece came along about 1997 during the 64-5 changes.

It is compatible/safe with +P ammo, assuming it is in proper working order.

I had a 64-5 and it had he old type release and also had the floating hand.
good to go with plus-p ammo
