A local guy is going to sell a 640-1 (Magnum J-Frame .357).
Like new, he said it's been shot less then 100 rounds.
Box and papers but original rubber banana grips were swapped to rubber boot grips.
Of course since it's a -1 there is no lock.
New ones list for $730 and he seems to think his is worth $600 since it's a -1 and no lock.
It would be a face to face with no transfer fees.
Seems a tad high but same guns / condition on GB seem to sell for about $550 plus shipping and transfer fees.
What think he J-Frame guys?
Thanks
J.

You said the grips were switched to rubber boot grips. I bought a new 640-1 that was made March 1995 that came with the rubber boot grips with two finger grooves. The one you are looking at may have the original grips. They were later sold with the rubber grips with three finger grooves. I don't know when the change was made.

I just got a 'looks to be' unfired police trade in for $469. A little clean up and its like new. 500 may be a better number?

Summitgunbroker has police trade ins @ $435 + $20 shipping. Pretty good price for a pre lock magnum j frame in my opinion. Spend a couple of days with some mother's mag polish and you'd have a good looking gun.

I paid $475 for mine two years ago, saw two others sell over the past year for $450 and $495. All were early production with forged triggers and thumb pieces.

Would you pay more for the forged version?
