I turn in the paperwork to the Sheriffs office on Monday and wait a little over a week(Saratoga County upstate NY is awful).

A question, How do you lube and clean without taking the sideplate off?

This revolver has the sweetest trigger I've ever felt,this is going to be a sweet carry gun.

Personally, I just squirt a little good gun oil like Rem-Oil with teflon up through the trigger notch and call it good. About the only cleaning I do is occasionally poke the lint out of the barrel.

It does not need frequent oiling. Use an oil that keeps it's film over time. Over oiling can gum up more than it solves.

To oil, I DO carefully remove the side plate being sure to use the correct fitting screw driver head... add a tiny drop of my favorite oil to each pivot & such. I rub down the inside of the side plate with an oiled patch. Reinstall the side plate. Wipe down the area covered by the grips with oiled patch. Reinstall. Done.

Check out gemini customs. I have an Ultimate J Frame package that should be done soon, but I can attest to the excellent trigger work and porting on my "executive" version done by Marc earlier this year!

Remove the grips & you can see the rear side of the rebound slide & also the mainspring, give them a few drops of fine oil "Rem-Oil" or CLP & also put a drop on each side of the triiger & dry fire the gun several times & it'll creap in there, The fine oil wicks in better than the thicker CLP..You can also see up to the hammer with the grips off put a couple small drop on both sides of it too..
Wipe excess with rag or Q-Tip..

Guess how much oil you think it needs, then use a tiny fraction of that. Many people use way too much oil and it gets all over clothes and can compromise the cartridges...a VERY bad thing in a carry gun. There is no need to take the side plate off to lubricate. I have seen people spray WD-40 by the gallon into the action of their revolver. If it is a revolver with an external hammer, I put one tiny drop of a high quality gun oil in the area down in the action where the hammer falls. Another tiny drop on the ejector rod, after wiping the old oil and residue off. Thats about it for regular lube after cleaning. I have a 640-1 and I have never put any oil into the action and its just fine. The action is enclosed and doesn't require much lube.
