640 ID Help

640-3 with gold ejector rod,gold trigger and gold cylinder thumb release-it is a 2002 model I beleive,has anyone ever had or seen one of these,it had the black rubber grips on it originally-I have the blue plastic box and one of the tags on it says H 357M S&W 640 Gold-didn't know if this was a run for a distributor or what

Welcome to the forum.
The SCSW 3rd edition says this is a special for TALO Distributors and called the "Model 640 Gold". Says it came with black Altamont wood boot grips and featuring gold (titanium nitride) thumbpiece, extractor rod and trigger. It does not say how many were made. It was made in 2002.
