S&W has had these on their website for a while now but I have seen nothing on any forums about one. Anyone bought, held, even seen any?
I could do without the sights on a Jframe but I was wondering what anyone else thought.
Thanks

I haven't seen any local. I've seen a few on the Forum so they are out there. Are those three dot sights or just a black rear and night sight front?

Several members have posted pictures recently.

You can also find them on GunBroker.com.

I think they had been anticipated for about two years. I'm glad that they are finally out.

I am pretty sure both front and rear sights are night sights.

640 Pro

Love mine. Very accurate and the night sights are perfect. I haven't had a chance to shoot any .357 out of it and i am not in a big rush to do so.

640 Pro night sights

Yep, big 3 dot niight sights. Easy to pick up and dead on point of aim with the loads i have fired so far.

640 Pro Series

I picked up mine today after almost a year of waiting. Hope to shoot it this weekend. Also note, no lock!

Oh man those pics are nice, I may have to inquire with my LGS. For some reason I thought it had the finish like a 642, kinda matte stainless. I love the finish tho!

Is the trigger any smoother/lighter than the box stock 640? I have seen some used 640s lately for decent prices locally, and with the pinned front sight I am considering getting oneand adding an XS regular dot on the front and having the rear u notched to have a sight picture like the nightguard series

I have no issue with the rear notch as designed and put a Trijicon front sight on...

I found the trigger on mine to be real good for a J frame out of the box. It was very smooth.
The other nice thing about it is its cut for moon clips so i keep a couple loaded in the safe and just drop them in and out when i want to carry somewhere and then putit back in the safe.
Its a great little gun for the money- i paid $629 plus tax.

Man...
Nice revolver!

I thought my next would be a 340M&P...
but that stainless steel j-frame with dovetailed night sights on it!

Get it beadblasted, load it with Buffalo Bore .38+P LSWCHP (158gr), put it in a nice IWB holster....

Thanks for sharing!

Curious. Could you shoot 9mm since its cut for moon clips? Or will they sit too deep still? Also, will a 9mm case even fit into the cylinder on these?

Love the sights, wish my 642 had the same sights.

Got mine in November of 11. Been carrying J frames since 1971. This is the best of the best. Dead on POA/POI with BB 158grain LSWCHPs +Ps and the action has been tuned by the Performance center.

Got about 300 rounds of 38s through it so far. My favorite drill is a "hostage drill with a target that shows the bad guys head partially hidden behind the hostages head. Range is 35 feet! Draw or raise weapon from ready position and fire 1 round at the bad guys head in less than 3 seconds. IMO the increased hitability that is inherent to this weapon is found in the excellent combat sights and the tuned action.

Score 23/25 hits on bad guy, the two misses were to the left of either head and no rounds in hostage. I practice this scenario fairly often. I was never that good or confident with the 640, 442-642 series that I've carried before. In fact, it outshoots my Colt DS in this drill, and that's saying a lot.

I have more confidence in this 640Pro than in all the Js I've carried as a Police Officer and retired, which has been a total of 42 years.

CUDO's to Smith and Wesson for this SERIOUS self defense gun.

I wish my 442 or my LCR 357 had these sights, I want a pocket revolver with these sights.
Is the 640 Pro J frame the same size as the 442 and 642, will the grips off a 442 fit on the 640?

Rhino is your 640 a new one? I see it has no lock and the pro has no lock. Does the standard 640 new production have no lock now?

38Airweight, the grips will interchange. A 640 whether the Pro model or not is a rb J Frame grip same as a 442 or 642.

Sorry for the windup on that post Photoman 44, but I am really happy and excited about this J frame. It shoots where it is pointed and it is a great little SD piece.
