Is the front sight pinned on your 642? Modern 442/642 have integral front sights; it would be a major job to remove it and make a slot in the barrel for the replacement pinned sight. I am not even sure there is enough barrel thickness on 642 to contemplate this job.

Most people who want more visibility opt for paining front sight red or orange. This can be done very quickly using automotive touch up paints, nail colors, etc.

Hoptob,
Taken better look at sight and your right would
be a major job will try the red painting of the sight and get a CTLG
Thank You very much
Jack

I have the same issue with my 642. Bought some Crimson Trace laser grips (405 model) for the 642 and use a point-and-shoot technique, concentrating on trigger pull with two shots per sighting with the laser. Took some practice but working well. I am also considering using some Tester's or other bright orange paint on the serrated ram of the front sight to eye the sight when the laser is not available or becomes unavailable.
