I pocket carry a S&W 642 in a Desantis Nemesis holster. It fits the revolver well and feels good in the pocket. However, most times when I try to draw the 642, the holster comes out of the pocket with the gun. I've tried to come up with some method to have it grip the pocket better, but as of yet I do not have any good ideas. Any input would be appreciated.

I ordered a Remora holster for the same s&w j frame this past week. I read good reviews. check out their site they seem to make very nice holsters.

This Galco holster stays put...

I'd been carrying a SIG938 or S&W642 in a Nemesis pocket holster for a few years now and recently switched to a Blackhawk TecGrip. The entire holster is made from a material that grips the inside of my pockets well, and the shape hides my revolvers better than the Nemesis. Just saying.

The inexpensive Uncle Mike's (now mfg'd by Blackhawk) serves me well. I have several. Previously, their size #3 fit the J-frames. In more recent mfgr, the #3 is cut a bit more tightly and the gun protrudes very slightly more from the holster. Some posters have written here that they now use the larger size #4 for the Js and they have a point.

Have never had the rig cling to the gun when drawing. At $10 or so, it's hard to go wrong.

This guy does really nice work. I have one of his holsters and I love it. I've also used the Mika holster and they work well...I've just got a thing for leather.

Thanks for heads up. I saw that Blackhawk on a TV show, and was thinking about trying it.

I'm a fan of Bob Mika's pocket holsters. I couldn't find any mass produced options I really liked, but then I saw Mas Ayoob with a unique looking holster that caught my attention and he referred me to Mika. He offers customizing and made mine according to the exact specifications I gave him and they work great. Mika's Pocket Holsters

I like my El Paso Saddlery Horsehide pocket holster best in a pants pocket, but a Remora is more versatile. My 638 is well served whether in my pocket, my bag, or in my waistband with the Remora...and the price is right.

Mika for me too.

Tried a few other brands including a Nemesis. They either came out of my pocket with the pistol or they were huge and it was like putting a saucer in my pocket. Mika is compact, draws easy, and stays put. Not expensive, but delivery can take a while.

I will echo Mika Pocket holsters. I own both a round and square, which are my only pocket holsters.

On another note, I bought a Remora for IWB and am not impressed. I've had it for a year now and it will not stay in place. Even when wearing a Hanks Gunner Belt.

Why would you need a pocket holster at all?

When I carry a M 38, it's in my pocket. Sometimes I also carry a handkerchief in the pocket. Usually not.

Without a holster, the barrel on my 642 digs into my leg.

Consider a strip of Velcro on the outside of the holster.
a couple of rubber bands might work.
I concur. An × of the "grabby " side of the velcro on each side of the holster. It will stay put.
