Let's talk J frame pocket holsters

Milt Sparks for me.

I've tried a few different types including the Nemesis and they weren't for me.

The Milt Sparks shouldn't make sense. It is one of the more expensive options. It looks bulky in the pictures. It looks bulkier in person.

For some reason it (for me) it works better than any of the others I have tried.

By the way, with the leather ones I usually have to rotate the revolver slightly in the early part of the draw. Not unusual for any of the varieties not made of a sticky material. It becomes muscle memory pretty quick.

Looking for experience/input on a pocket holster for a Model 60 no dash. I'm gonna get one but have no idea what to buy. The DeSantis Nemesis looks promising....anybody using one?

There are a bunch of reasons I choose a DeSantis Nemesis holster when pocket carrying. They are very comfortable for all day carry and will not print the guns profile. The outer skin is thin and sticky so it will remain in the pocket when Roscoe is pulled. It is also sweat resistant so your gun will not rust. It covers al the important parts of the gun including the trigger guard but is extremely light weight. The pocket holster also lasts for a very very long time even when used 7 days a week! Last but not least, they are very inexpensive!

Another vote for the Mika pocket holster.

Another fan of the Galco horsehide. I bought mine used on the forum about 10 years ago and it shows no more wear from daily carry than it did then.

A lot of this depends on the size of your pocket. I pocket carry a 442, 637 and occasionally a Taurus 856. In most cases I use a custom made kydex holster from Aholster.com They fit my pockets well and hold the pistol perfectly. Alabamaholster.com also makes a good kydex pocket holster.

If you're going to go with a generic pocket holster like a Nemesis, I'd say go with either a Mika holster or an Allen Holster Spider holster. Both are a thinner, better material than the DeSantis or Uncle Mikes, and don't make it look like you've got a rolled up sock in your pocket.

After hearing you guys input and reading reviews online I'm narrowing it down to either a Allen Spider or a Mika. Sounds like the Allen is as good as a Nemesis or a Sticky for less money and the Mika is in a class by itself. Anybody using the Allen pocket holster for a j frame Smith?

Another fan of the Kramer pocket holster.
Have shown this pic before (not long ago), my trusty M38 and the Kramer, they have been mates for nearly 30 years....

What's the old saying Don't leave the house without them... :)

I have pocket carried a 649-2 for a long time and have 3 pocket holsters which I change depending on what type of pants I have on. For suit pants with a vertical opening I use a Mica round; for horizontal opening pockets of normal size I use a Mica square; for larger pockets I have a De Santis Nemesis which also has a provision for a speed strip. For all around and limited to only one holster I would choose the De Santis hands down.

Ha.... I've been looking at and reading reviews of pocket holsters for like two days. I'm 72 yrs old and sometimes I have what I call a "brain fart". I've been accumulating gun stuff for many years. The little voice told me to go look thru your stuff. In a drawer I found a Nemesis pocket holster and yes it's the right model for my Model 60. Looks brand new but for the life of me I can't remember how I came to have it. Fits good in my front jeans pocket, keeps the gun oriented how I want it and is easy to pull the gun without the holster moving or coming out with the gun. So I'm gonna go with this for the time being. Down the road I'll probably order a Mika but for now I'm good. Thanks for all the help.

I have been using the Stoner back pocket for a few years now; no issues. I take the finger extension off the magazine for better fit. For the SP101 I have that Uncle Mike’s inexpensive size 0 holster till I get something with a better fit, but it’s been fine for the front-left if I carry there. I found the no-name holster in an Army/Navy surplus store and it’s great for my M36 1 3/4” for $5, right front pocket. My tee shirts usually cover any visible evidence of a small carry gun on my person. Only issues are no security straps, but I like these…the prices were good (cheap) and they work well. The Stoners were good people to deal with, even though they are Bengals fans!

I’ve used both Galco & DeSantis pocket holsters for my J Frame but prefer DeSantis b/c it’s thinner. Both are quality products but I prefer DeSantis.

I’ve tried a *lot* of pocket holsters in a variety of materials, and my favorite, believe it or not, is the humble Uncle Mike’s nylon pocket holster. They do show a lot of wear after a year or two, but at ~$12 each this isn’t a significant issue.

Another vote for the UM pocket rig, but mine don't wear out. I have several, purchased at WM, and I rotate them. Due to surgery, am compelled to pocket carry daily and for years. BTW, the size chart says rig #3 for the J-snub, but it is cut a little differently now, so the #4 is preferable for the Js.

Dear Zoner,
I use a Galvo horsehide to pocket carry my Baby Chiefs. The holster is thin and it stays in my pocket.

Blessings,
