I just got a used 645. It has some home made wooden grips. I would like to find some original black factory grips for it. Thanks in advance.

You might also want to consider the black pachmayr grips. They are hard but softer than the factory. The thin plastic factory grips don't give you quite as good a grip on such a large pistol. You can buy the individual panels, or I believe the wrap around for the 6906 works if you want the front strap covered. Also, Hogue makes some.

I see you bought some, thought you might be interested in this also.

thats a great looking 645. I will post some pics of mine after I clean her up a bit.

I would try calling S-W instead of finding used ones first. Do what you have to do to get some. Nothing against aftermarket, and some do feel quite good...but keep that 645 original. The 645 is such a masterpiece and they really look cool w-the black S-W grips. Here is mine. (Yes that is camera flash on the grip, they are all black)

I did happen to find some wood grips @ the last gunshow. They were the custom Hogue grips w/ S&W medallions. They were a little too high priced for me. I agree w/ 3rd Gen Neal, I would like to have the original black ones.

Seeing this thread reminded me of a question I been meaning to ask.

Can you move the top of the backstrap in and out (even slightly) on any of your 645's or are they rock solid?

very little

Mine has a tiny bit of play @ the top part , but it doesn't seem to be a problem.
