Hey all-
I recently bought a used 645 in southern California. These pistols are not on our beloved states "safe handgun" list, so I had to find one in state and do a PPT through an FFL. There were several new in box on gunbroker, but I could not "import" those into Cali. Anyway, I found a pretty good looking 645 for sale and bought it although it had a cheap aftermarket mag. After shooting it, I found that the mag would not trip the slide stop, and the gun would cycle through, rather than stay open after the last round was fired. I bought a new S&W mag, and it seemed to fix the problem, although it does not always keep the slide open after the last round is fired either. It works fine when opening the slide by hand, no round in mag, mag installed in well. While cleaning it, I broke out the calipers and measured the slide stop diameter at .200" The hole in the frame is .208" There appears to be more slop here than my 3rd gen 5904 which measures at .200 for the stop and .205 for the hole. The hole is perfectly round, so I dont necessarily suspect wear of the hole, but I am not sure. Anyone out there with any ideas, or a 645 and a set of calipers to compare?
Thanks
Dave
