I recently purchased a 3" 65-3 for a fair price. Maybe a bit on the high side of fair but I wanted a stainless 3" in the worst way. That is hard on the wallet. Oh well. Anyway.....

The revolver has seen a good deal use but does not appear damaged or mis-handled. Sideplate is pristine, screws are not damaged, original stocks, no top strap flame cutting, clean bore...you know the drill.

The cylinder notches show a little peening and there is some end shake. Some scatches but none deep.

I am wondering if it would be worth the effort to send it to the mother ship for a good going over.

Advice?

The long range plan for this one is a t-grip (already purchased) and a nice set of either bone/antler or buffalo horn stocks and maybe a polish job.

Unless it has a bad problem, I'd just shoot it.
Endshake is easy to correct with the special washers. Lots of information on that on here.
I only send them back to S&W for major work that I cannot do, such as sideplate replacement or B/C gap adjustment.

Unless you're significantly out of spec or the piece isn't shooting properly, I'd say enjoy and get to know it for the time being. You might find more (or fewer) things you like to do to it.

When you've had some real time behind it or uncover a performance or safety issue, then consider a trip "home".
