Hello, I've been researching my Smith and Wesson 657 and I'm having a hard time. It is a 6.5" barrel, Combat grips, 657-2, square butt. A lot of the research I have seen makes me wonder if it is a Lew Horton, It is a product code 103820, but my serial number prefix is BHB and that throws me off.
If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated. I love this revolver, it is new, unfired in the box with all original paperwork, and I just want to be sure what I have.
thanks -Mike

Call Earl Minot at Lew Horton with the SN, he can tell you if they sold it.

It looks like one of the Classic Hunter versions to me.

That is a Classic Hunter

2000 pieces were manufactured across many years. In fact the early 103820s were square butt and the last ones were round butt even though they had the same product code.

Initially these had HTR as the prefix, but that also changed over the years of production.

My round butt is a CAJ prefix and was manufactured in 1996

Earl is a super nice guy! I just spoke with him. Unfortunately, this one is not a Lew Horton, but it was nice to have a quick chat with him.
