657-4 Mountain Gun

I really like this one. Do you ever carry yours on the strongside? These are actually available on amazon and the description says it can be used either cross draw or strongside. How high does the holster ride on your belt?

The Cyclone can be worn on the strong side, but there is a tad of negative cant in this position. I have a belt threaded through the holster in the photo to show the actual ride height...sort of low. I like this holster for hiking and riding my four wheeler.

My favorite is the DeSantis Speed Scabbard for concealed carry.

For field carry the Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake. It can be worn strong side or cross draw.

Speed Scabbard...

What I like about both these holsters is that they have wings that protect the rear sight from damage and the wearers clothes from being ripped or snagged by the hammer or rear sight blade.

Simply Rugged with my FA 97/.41 Mag...

Both are very comfortable to wear and don't flop around at all... They were the only two holsters I took on a three month western vacation I took last summer...

I have not tried one yet but El Paso Saddlery has a Dual Position that looks like a Bianchi Askins Avenger but has dual belt loops that can carry the gun strong side or cross draw. Galco also has two holsters very much like it.

As to the grips... The white ones came from Eagle Grips...they are called The Hammer.

The wood ones are from Herretts and called the S&W Classics. I bought them from a big vendor on ebay.

That simply rugged pancake looks really nice too. Is that the optional hammer strap they offer when you pick your holster options? When I take this hunting I'll probably be in my tree stand some of the time. Will I be able to access the gun in a sitting position with that holster?
