657-4 Request Ship Date & Info

Hello,
I would like to find some info on the
657-4 serial CEJ92** 6"barrel (though seems to measure 5 7/8") round butt.
ship date and what pertains to the -4.

I have a new favorite revolver and am having a hard time finding information. I have read that the -4 did not last long but not necessarily in the 657.

Anyway, I appreciate and thank you for your help and knowledge in advance.

August - September 2000.

Product code for the 6-inch was 103953 (you can use that number to do a search on this forum. "657" you can't). These guns had the new style frame with frame mounted firing pin, MIM trigger & hammer, but no lock.

The meanings of dash numbers aren't meant to transfer between models. A -4 in a Model 10 is not the same as a -4 in a Model 629.
