Hello all, I joined here by suggestion to a question I had about my 657 Classic Hunter and the question is what if any added value is added being that the serial number is HTR 0041. I didn't think it made much of a difference but some folks say it does. Anyone have any input regarding this. Thanks RJL

That particular number would probably only be of significance to what I would imagine to be a small handful of collectors who look for things like that. How significant would depend on how badly that collector wanted it. If he had a large collection of different models, each with a serial number which matched the caliber, maybe a lot. Just that one example, maybe a little, but I wouldn’t think a whole lot.

Now the first gun in a production run, HTR0001 for example, would be much more likely to bring a premium, especially in highly desirable models. Just MHO, but I’ve been a serious collector for quite a while.

You own a very nice revolver. Many of your fellow Forum members would love to have a 657 Classic Hunter

There is a small cluster of Collector's that look for unusual serial numbers and would probably pay a premium for an example that has not been fired since leaving the factory

That premium gets smaller and smaller as the firearm in question shows more use

I agree with wlp624, serial number HTR0001 would attract a larger crowd than HTR0041

I think that serial number HTR0657 would probably also have more interest to someone that pays interest to numbers.
