I've got a 659 that i want to put a muzzle brake on. To do this i need a barrel that is approx 4.25 to 4.5 inch length. Anyone know where i can get one? prefer it to be pre threaded.

So you are searching for a 1st or 2nd Gen 9mm barrel of 4.25 or greater length. Unless I am missing something obvious (I don't believe that I am), Smith & Wesson never made anything that would include that barrel.

I would say that your only hope is some aftermarket barrel maker, and none of them would do a single-run barrel like this.

I would say that you will most likely never accomplish this task unless you find someone willing to alter something to fit. And this seems like an extremely odd idea. What exactly do you mean by "muzzle brake" and what is the end goal, to reduce muzzle flip on an all-steel handgun made for only 6-7 years in the 1980's?

If that is truly the goal... the most feasible and lowest cost method would be to port the barrel and the slide of a 659.

Have you investigated how adding the mass of the muzzle brake to the barrel will affect the recoiling operation of the pistol? The operation of the slide and springs are designed for the barrel which came with the gun. Making the barrel heavier will change the entire recoil sequence which probably result in jams, misfeeds, etc. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I would ask the question on a suppressor forum. I know I have seen some Mk22 S&W Hushpuppy reproductions that solved this problem. Check with these people to see if they can add an extension to your barrel.

Just had to reply. I carry a 659 everyday I bought new in the 80's. I had it in the safe for 15 years and decided to carry it but wanted to have extra work on it. I had ADCO work the barrel for a suppressor and have loved every minute of it. Never a bit of problem and is still my favorite carry.
