Still popular as heck. Was watching a auction on GB that went out today around lunchtime. A 2.5in 66-2 with non original diamond magnas and a extra set of Pach's. Really nice gun, but I would not have bid the $905 that it went for. Item number was 941541019 if you want to look it up.

Prices since the pandemic remain high and with inflation, they are going to remain high and will likely go even higher. The auction you saw was for a 2 1/2 inch barrel Model 66, these short barrel revolvers are bringing the big money and that all started with the pandemic and was further fueled by social unrest and the 2020 election results.

Oh, I understand why it went for that price, I just am not willing to spend that much on a SS revolver myself, as I prefer blued and then nickel over SS. Especially with non-correct grips and no box or accessories. Basically a nice shooter for more than shooter price IMO.

I've recounted this story several times on this Forum but back when BO was elected and gun-grabbing fears ran rampant, I saw a like-new 2-1/2" Model 66-4 on GunBroker awaiting a first bid of $416. I had no interest in snubbies at the time but placed that opening bid just to get things started for the seller, fully expecting bidding to go crazy and drive it close to a grand. When the "Congratulations, you won Item #..." email came, I was shocked.

The gun almost appeared unfired and hasn't a mark on it. It came with a Pachmayr grip but it's worn several different sets of combat stocks since then. The last two photos are what it currently wears.

I'm now very glad I made that bid as it is one of my two favorite carry pieces.

All 9f those stocks are gorgeous! I can't decide which i like best! Who makes them?

I gave $950 for this package in 2019. Might have overpaid, but I'm happy with purchase!

There's always another, right? I like the M19 but my days of carrying one are over. Most days find a 640 or K6S on me.

Vitoonmakers on EBay is Vitoonwood on Amazon.

He does great work at rational prices. He lurks here too, I've read.

Some of his grips. The dark SB combats on the 66-1 (S&W SB combats on the 19-3,) on the 3" 65-5 LS, and on the 3" 547 (S&W RB combats on the 19-3.)

Nice 66!! You paid the going price, and you did very well.

The 66-2 on the top is my first S&W. I wasn't looking for another, but the local Sheriff's office issued 66-1 has some history behind it, and that made it a 'must have' for me. I paid the (then) fair asking prices for both.
