I posted this in the revolver section, but thought I should put it in this section. I've got a 66-3 and I compared it to my model 19 and new production 617 in the area behind the trigger. The 66 has a slot, but no trigger stop like the model 19. The 617 has no slot or external trigger stop. I have shot hundreds of rounds through the 66 without issue. I bought the revolver used, but it shows no sign of abuse or being taken apart. Sideplate screws are perfect, and it shoots and operates great.Should I have a trigger stop installed, or did S&W stop putting them in? I don't want to damage the revolver. Any advice or help is appreciated.

The trigger stop was an option. They caused some problems on some guns and it was recommended they be removed from guns in service.

I have owned several Model 66's, but only one of them had a trigger stop. It is a 66-3, and when I posted it on the S&W forum most folks thought it was unusual to have the trigger stop. It is a 3" barrel, and also had the target hammer and target trigger.
