Good Morning All! Open question for those that might have an answer. Has anyone had personal knowledge of any S&W revolvers of this era, being supplied with factory-installed lanyard rings?? I'm well aware of them being on earlier M&P's and even later RHKP M-10's but I've never seen one installed with factory target grips.
This example is an early M66 no-dash with 2K55xxx serial. Serial number seems to be more forward on bottom of frame as if to allow for lanyard ring hole. Serial # was not affected. Grips are blue-disk, football-relief Targets that are perfectly inletted for the extended ring base. Swivel works well & is installed with a solid pin.

I know many of these early M66's (and 67's) went to law enforcement. Does anyone recall any made like this? Maybe for a specific agency??

THANK YOU!!! I need to remember,,, "search" function first.;)
I was worried about serial # being modified until I pulled grips. Number is maybe 1/8-3/16" forward of my 4k 66 no-dash.
I still wonder though if Factory did the install or the State Police Armory?

My model 53 left the factory with a butt swivel and checkered walnut stocks. An extended shaft swivel would be something I would be very interested in, in blue steel. The hole in mine is centered with the SN off center. I have seen pictures of those 66s before. Very interesting.

The Rhode Island State Police also had (6") model 66s with butt swivels. Must have been a northeast thing. :)

My 66 no dash doesn't have a swivel nor is the frame drilled for one. I think the guys that came up with he pics and info nailed it great job..
