I've got a nice 669 I got about 6 weeks ago. Been trying to get info on it. I did a quick search and got zip.. Is it that good a unit that NOBODY has problems, or nobody has one????? I'm happy and it shoots a heck of a lot better than my 67 year old eyes can.. Have shot a raft of brands of ammo, fmj, jhps,rn lead with not so much as a burp.... Thanx Stash

I went to Google and typed in Smith&Wesson 669 Manual. Downloaded the factory manual, learned some stuff from that. Esecially the part about that series has the " automatic safety firing pin plunger". Plus a parts diagram and how to field strip it. Bill

When I leave Illinois, I have a valid CCW and I usually carry the 669. I have had mine for several years and have never had a problem with it.

Bought mine new 25 years ago and carried it everyday off duty for eleven years. Qualified with it four times a year and it ate everything I could stuff in it and never had a malfunction. I'm the same age as you and have only carried it sporadically ever since I retired 14 years ago. I am now going to put it up for auction as I got a 6906 to replace it and just qualified with that this past Friday. Can't go wrong with either one in my opinion.

I love mine. I carry it whenever I'm not working. Very concealable, yet I get a comfortable 2 finger grip with the 3rd behind the finger extension (I have bear paws). My wife can still shoot it comfortably. I carry a 12 rd in the gun and a 15 rd from a 659 in my back pocket. I've recently found a few holstermakers that still can fit it. I'm ordering a high noon tuckable soon

I bought one new in '86 and had it until it got stolen in '07. I carried it concealed for a few years in a Don Hume slide-type holster that worked very well. The 669 was totally reliable. I put a slip-on rubber thingy over the grips -- which made it more comfortable for me. Hope you enjoy it!

I am thinking on buying a 669 for my grandson. I know I saw the answer to my question awhile back but here goes. Is the frame on the669 steel or alloy? Also, which do you consider a better manstopper, the .38 special or the .380 auto? My vote is the .38 special but I would like some opinions, please.
