681/686 Deal

I know this is like the dumbest place ever to ask whether I should buy something...But here goes anyway...A church member locally has a 686 and 681 for sale as a package. Price is likely fair. I don't need these, but would like to have them. I guess my question is should I buy at $1200? Thanks.

You'd be doing pretty good on that deal. My 681 was a beat up CAI import from a sportsman's warehouse and was happy to have it at 600. I polished it up and now it looks great and is a tack driver.

You didn't mention barrel lengths, condition, or dash numbers for these two revolvers. That information could definitely affect the value. VG-Exc condition and no dash (or early dash no.) revolvers, particularly short barrels, are generally worth more $. However, $1200 for two stainless L-frames, even in just good condition, would be a very fair deal. Since it's a fellow church member offering these to you, ask yourself WWJD? Just for reference, I bought this minty 3" Model 686-6 Plus a few months ago for $750 OTD and and was happy to get it! Good luck!

I came to ask if they were lock or no-lock models. Obviously, you've answered that.

I'm not a fan of the lock models & the few that I do have got the lock delete kit installed.

Good score, IMO.

Nice score! Safe to say you did great at $1200. Shoot, I'd have been happy to get them both at $1400, It's hard to get 1 pre-lock, pre-MIM L frame for under $800 around here. Enjoy them!
