I have a 686-1 with a 6inch barrel, My question is did these come with different front sights? Mine had a pinned partridge that I changed out to a FO sight. Other pictures that I see posted show a Red ramp insert on the front . Has mine been modified? I see some later dash guns that have the pinned sights, and was wondering which ones are correct?

Some did come with a pinned Patridge front sight. Maybe one in twenty, or one in thirty. Some were sent back to the factory by owners to have a pinned sight installed. I'm not sure it's possible to tell the difference. A 6-inch gun with a Patridge front sight from the factory would, on the box label, have the product code of 104207.

Some had red ramp insert, some black Patridge. I don't think a solid red ramp would be factory, if I understand what you're describing. I think your pinned sight would be original, but someone else should be able to answer for sure.

I think that I didn't describe the red ramp right I did mean what you just said [red ramp insert]. Thank you and The Kernel for the prompt responses.
