My 686-6 has the stock red ramp front sight and I would like to put a Patridge front sight on it. I am looking at the Patridge sold on Midway which is .243". The stock ramp sight is .250" I have not found any other Patridge front sights in my Google search.

Has anyone put a Patridge on their 686? If so, what make/model/brand, what size and where did you buy it?

Cylinder and Slide make a blank that is .350.
Currently out of stock though.

I have interchanged .250 and .225 sights on my 627-2 frequently and found for short range shooting there is little difference. Long range shooting may require some rear sight adjustments.

Ebay has a Smith & Wesson Revolver Pinned Front Sight Black Patridge .243" Height

A word of caution, which may or may not be noteworthy: My initial reaction to pretty much anything from Ebay is it's used. A used front sight blade has a pin hole in it which may or (more likely) may not line up with the pin hole in your sight base.

My bet is SW has them cheap if you just want a plain black blade face, imo if you're going to that much trouble look for one with a gold bead insert.
The pro series have a quick change ifs system that makes life real easy.
