I'm trying to complete my 357 snub collection and currently looking for a 686 2.5"

I have located one in a -3 with goodyears. I have tried to estimate a price on a good shooter in this condition, but the prices seem to be all over the place. What would be a fair price on a -3 with no box and Goodyear grips.

What I have found is anywhere from $600 - $800,is that a close estimate? Can anyone narrow it down a little closer. I don't mind paying current market value but what would be the current market value.?

Sound like you're in the right range.

This is a year old track but it should give you some idea of how prices have been going on the model. Keep in mind better examples of the model would command higher than average prices, especially with box, papers, tools, etc.

Smith & Wesson 686 Plus 2-1/2 in Bbl Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Bluebook of Gun Values (33nd Edition) indicates between $350 in 95% condition and $615 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 97 recorded prices for this model gun from $350 to $900 over a period of 8 Yrs 5 Mos ending November 17, 2012. The average price as of that date was $548. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for import location or engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $849.

Here's the chart, three prices behind the data track. The Average Price Trend was at about $620 as of February 2012. This version of the 686P doesn't show up all that often and I'm sure the trend is higher now.

Depends on condition and if was a special run or not. I have a Lew Horton 2 and a half. I bought it when they first came out hoping it would be a real collector seeing S&W did not make one at that time. They sold so good that S&W decided to make it a stock item. So much for collector value. Still have it and the box with the correct product code. You should be able to find a nice 2 and a halfer for 600 to 700 if you shop around. Hope this helps.

Here's my -3, paid around $700 for it with factory combats that were sold since they aren't comfortable. No box, a few handling marks but overall I thought a good deal.
