A hunting acquaintance owns a model 686-6 product code 150855 7 shot 7 inch barrel from 2010, the gun has an unfluted cylinder. She would like to know how many revolvers were made in this design.

I don't want to bother Roy Jinks with this question, maybe someone can give information ?
I would be very grateful for an answer

Best regards from germany

The 7" 686+ 7 shot was originally part of the '357' series S&W had with Talo. When S&W ended their relationship with Talo, S&W took on the line as their own products. The 7" seems to be the least desireable of the trio (3" 5" 7") here the the US.

At one time I had a 7" 686-5. 1 of 70.

While the 7" barrel is unique and interesting, having it on a -6 or later frame is just...... well - not to my personal liking.

That's why I purchased one of the 7" barrels and had it installed on a -4 frame, it came out as nice as I expected.... :)

IMO, the only thing you are missing now is long spur hammer, like on 686 Target Champion.

If "long spur" means a Target Hammer, I personally have no use for one, I shoot my revolvers double action, it's a rare day that I shoot single action, maybe when sighting in a new revolver.
