Two of my favorites. S&W 686+ with a Vortex Razor 3 MOA & 617 sporting a Vortex Venom 3 MOA. I recently acquired a second pair of TALO Exclusive Altamont grips.

Nice pair. Can you compare and contrast the Venom vs. the Razor? Coincidently, I have a 6-inch PowerPorted M686-4 and a 4-inch M617-5 I'd like to install reflex sights on. Already have two Raptor Engineering bases.

(BTW, Sailor Jerry is my preferred naval rum). :D

FWIW, I worked up the spit and $ to snag a Leupold Deltapoint Pro for my 617. I like it much better than the Burris FastFire 3. Nothing wrong with the FastFire but better features on the Leupold. I have no user experience with the Vortex sights.

Vortex Razor vs Venom

The Vortex Razor & Venom are both great products. The clarity is equal in my opinion. I prefer the external, side mounted controls of the Venom. The Razor is a bit more robust and gives you the ability to lock in the windage and elevation adjustments with a set screw. The Vortex Lifetime transferrable warranty is exceptional. I accidentally stripped a mount plate screw (12 in lbs recommended, but not listed in instructions) customer service replaced it within a week after I mailed the old one in. Vortex also has a 40% off MSRP program for Military Active Duty, Reserves & Veterans. Details on their website. At present, I have 3 red dots & 3 scopes and am very pleased with all products.
