686 7 Shot No Lock???

Yep. 686 no dash up until current models are made in 6 shot. The 686+ (7 shot) started in the -4. The -4 and -5 do not have a lock.

Perfect.

I used this to narrow my searches and I now have a 686+ without a lock on its way. Silly, I've searched for this gun many times and would just get frustrated staring at hundreds of 6 shot no-lock and 7 shots w/lock.

After I made my last post my computer gave me a few issues. Went out to push the buy it now button on the 686 I wanted and it was sold!!!

Dummy!!!!!!!!

that sucks you will find another eventually, atleast now you know how to look for it better.

That does stink. You will find one just keep looking. I looked for a long time for a 2.5" and I finally found one. Then I ran into a 4" the next week for a good price.

This one is a little different.

Here's a 686-5 7 shot. Note the frame mounted firing pin and MIM hammer, no lock, and older roll marks. I love this gun.

Member hihosilver has a nice 686-4+ for sale in the classifieds here.

Nice revolver at a fair price too, IMO. I don't know him, just thought I'd mention it in case someone here missed it. Regards 18DAI.

Yeah, we've been in touch. I thought from the photo there was a chip in the metal on the cylinder which is why I wasn't interested. But he clarified that was just a bad photo (or my bad eyes!).

I have a few other folks sending me some pics in the next day or two following this post. So thanks to everyone's help I think I'll have one nailed down in the next few days.
