686 all scratched up

I'd go with the Hieser and for grips I'd go real ivory that has some carving in them as well.

Very nice thanks for sharing.

Roc Doc, "Thanks" for the article. Is Tuscumbia (sp) in Alabama? That is a great article about Herschel Davis. I am assuming he is the same "Davis". Appreciate your posting that, more than you know. Are you from that area? Do you know this guy? What a great find you provided me with.

Regards

Bill

Glad to help out. Not from Alabama. I googled "davis and engraver". Several hits came up and this one looked spot on.

Class III and Roc Doc, "Thanks", for your efforts. Perhaps, with your help, we have found Mr. Davis. I really appreciate your time and effort.

I have NEVER seen a more profusely engraved revolver. Rarely have I seen an engraved stainless steel weapon.....

Whomever did the work tore up alot of blades on that one!!!

Thats a true BBQ gun if there ever was one. She needs Ivory or Stag Magna's an a T-grip. I know if she was mine regardless of all that scratching Id be shooting her!!

IDP, It has been shot, in fact had a lot of carbon on cylinder face when I got it. However, it has the worst double action trigger pull I believe I have ever seen on any S & W. Single action is very smooth. I don't want to remove the side plate for fear of mismatching the scratching on that side. Maybe it will loosen up after I load some up to rattle its teeth.

Thanks again to all for the help in finding the info about the engraver.

Do alot of dry firing with her, an that along with regular shooting should help smooth out the DA trigger pull.

Boys, I have found Mr. Davis. He is semi retired and not doing much engraving any longer, only as a hobby. I appreciate all of your help and the info that you provided to take me to completion in this search.

Bill,

Glad the info I provided led you to the answer to your quest, as the front page of this forum led me to your post (I am a usual "Lounge Lizard" or Semi Auto guy by habit).

Glad to be of help.
