686 cylinder won't rotate in double action, sometimes

IMO - Your friend is asking too much for a used and flawed 686. You can purchase new ones for about the same money.

I think it's the double action sear, anyway I think I'll get him to send it back after I put a deposit on it.
THAT WOULD BE YOUR BEST BET, Vanimal. THERE'S NO REASON WHY EITHER YOU OR YOUR FRIEND SHOULD FRET OVER THIS. PAY YOUR FRIEND FOR THE GUN--SO THAT HE DOES NOT RENEG ON THE SALE AFTER ITS FIXED--AND HAVE HIM CALL FOR A SHIPPING LABEL BACK TO THE MOTHER SHIP. THAT'S THEIR PROBLEM, NOT YOURS. LET THEM SORT IT OUT…..

That's the plan. There's actually an authorized S&W repair gunsmith about 30 minutes away from him. I was thinking about doing the transfer there, then I can go pick it up after its been repaired and after the 10 day wait period (California [emoji20] ).

Hello,

My buddy offered me his 686 for cheap. My only concern is that he told me the cylinder doesn't rotate in double action sometimes but, when you cock the hammer it does. He's only put about 60 rounds through it and he's the first owner. Anyone know what may be the problem and how to fix it?
Thanks

Didn't see this fix in your replies. Check your ejector rod and make sure it is screwed in tight. This can cause that problem as well as sometimes the cylinder is hard to swing out. The ejector rod is a reverse thread so it's NOT righty tighty, lefty loosey.

Cool, thanks Terry. I'll check that out.
