686 no dash 4 in

Hello men. Have a question and it may display a lot of pictures. I got in a trade yesterday. Its a 686 no dash with original box dated 1982 and all paperwork and unopened cleaning kit along with original purchase reciept . Does not have the M mark on it. Was curious to what it would be worth in impressive condition.

IIRC all No dash 686s shipped with wood target grips.. (looks like a "ST" on the box).... lots of folks switched wood to rubber before ever leaving the LGS more often than not leaving the wood grips behind.

A 4" 686 is just about the best general purpose/utility/duty revolver going IMO

Value.... "used" but as new in box in my market.... I'd say $700-750 in this market.

I had the chance to buy a 686 with WV State Police markings for $400.00 back in 2006.

SMH on that one! I was short on cash and not into revolvers at the time.

Last weekend at a local gun show I saw three 686 4" , one-4, two -3s. They all had wooden target grips and 4" barrels. They were going for $750-$800. The sellers wouldn't go down on their pricing. I left empty handed. There would have been a deal at $700. Your is very clean, has the box, but has rubber grips, I would say $675-$700 for that package.

As much, or more, then a current production 4" 686. What ever that might be currently.

Everyone would like to pick up a classic pre-lock / pre-MIM S&W for less, but assuming an educated seller, I just don't see it.
