I've done a bit of research and every time I find a post with good info it is older and the parts are no longer available. I own a 686 no dash and want to be able to mount a scope , but, I do not want to have the top strap drilled and tapped. It seems that Weaver made a model 370 S that would have been perfect, but, they no longer make it. Does anyone know of an available scope mount that will work without D&T, thank you.

eBay. If Weaver made it, sooner or later, one will turn up. Has to be a lot of em out there.

Thanks, Ebay is always my fallback, checked there already though, gotta keep looking it up and hopefully one will turn up. I figure they stopped making it because S&W started D&T'ing the top straps.

nyrico, I just posted a picture of my 686 no dash with the weaver 307S mount in the 686 thread. I had the mount for many years before I had the gun or the scope, then it all came together. the box says K and L frame, but I had to open the part that fits over the frame with a fine quarter round file for it to fit properly. lee

b squar made one also, got mine about 25yrs. ago

Thanks guys, I always seem to be late to the party. I did happen upon a site that was still selling the 307s in silver and ordered it, I guess that I will have to wait until Monday to see if they actually have one in stock, fingers crossed. Then its on to the scope, any suggestions? I found a Simmons ProHunter 4x32 for a decent price, all reviews seem positive although it is a simple scope.

Very nice firearm, I really like the stocks, are they Ahrends? What scope is that?

ahrends retro combat stocks and the scope is a weaver 4X. check ebay for weaver handgun scope or weaver pistol scope. glad you found the 307S. they aren't easy to come by any more. lee

I have used the B Square and found that it will work fine with 22 and mild target grade 38's, but with heavier loads it won't hold up and will work loose, and in one case sheared off the front mount screw on a Mod 14. If you are serious about needing a scope, bite the bullet and have it drilled & tapped.
