I am not one to visit the forum much, but thought I'd post a photo of my new 686+ Performance Center with the 2.5" barrel. Beautiful gun and looks great alongside my 686+ Talo with the 3" barrel. If this is the incorrect place to post I would ask the mods to just move it.
Action and trigger on this PC is outstanding but since I received it for Christmas, I haven't that the opportunity to wring it out at the range.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

Very nice! I'm currently looking at the same model and a 686+ 3" and can't decide. Any advice? Which do you think feels/balances better?

The 3" gives you positive extraction (longer extractor) and more balanced proportions given that the grips are the same size on both guns. I chose the 3" in the 686. But I have a 2.5" Model 66 with an Ahrends combat grip. The proportions seem right on both guns.

Very nice. I want to get one but i just got a 686 plus in 6". I wonder how it carries? I want to carry one like your 2.5 686 plus. Nice pic.

I have both the 3" and 2.5" 686+ and I think the 2.5" balances a little better but that is probably just subjective.
The grips on each are slightly different, the 3" has the Talo grips but the grips on the 2.5" fills my hand better and aids in balance I think.
Although I can't prove it, the non-fluted cylinder probably adds a tad more weight over the trigger guard I think. I have no problem with the extractor on the 2.5" ejecting all the cartridges although the 3" ejector is probably is a little longer, although i haven't measured it. The moon clips I think aids in extraction too on the 2.5"... the 3" isn't set up for moon clips.

The 2.5 definitely balances better in my Galco shoulder holster and doesn't protrude from the bottom of the holster quite as far as the 3", as you might expect in my Galco Silhouette Hi Ride OWB thumbsnap rig.

The 3" is 2.2 oz. heavier (less ammo) then the 2.5"

The Performance Center has a much nicer and smoother action. Not as heavy a double action trigger as the 3".

Hope this helps. Actually, I don't think you could go wrong with either of them, but I do like the 2.5" Performance Center better. Good Luck.

Here is a photo of my 686+ Talo. You can see that the grips on the 2.5" 686+ Performance Center may give better control.

Hope that helps.
