686 picture thread

686-1.jpg

This is my only 686 but - it is mine. Fantastic gun and fantastic photo thread. Thank you all for the beautiful photo's of your 686's. I truly believe it is one of the best revolvers ever produced.
Be safe all, Frank.

My 686+ pair turned into a trio today. Made a routine stop at one of the gun stores on the way home and someone had just traded this one in. I thought the $575 price tag was reasonable, and was further enabled when the guy told me he could do $550...and a few hours later it was on my bench. It hasn't seen much use. I think I gave it the first real cleaning it had ever had. Seeing it all cleaned up put a smile on my face.:)

686-1 6" No Lock.

Do any of you find the 6" barrel-heavy? Mine is kind of new to me and sometimes I wish I'd found a 4" no lock...

Of course I don't feel that way when I'm hitting good patterns at 75'...

I ain't big in size or hands and I love my 686-3 w/Hogues and find no problem with my baby bought new in 93'. It is bulldozer tough...

Oh, and the last one "they'll" get BTW...

Picked this up last week, first Revolver purchase in years, I had forgotten how much fun they are! Not sold on the grip yet, but not sure what I want replace them with either... Maybe just a simple Pacmayer

Not sure how old, but box is a bit tattered, has the cleaning kit and tools still in the bag, and all the paperwork, etc. Older no lock model... will have to try and chase down the manf date.

Also, at the range I had issues with the all back front sight, and not being able to pick it up cleanly on black targers. Not sure if maybe switching to one with an orange insert like some newer models would work, or maybe just trying some orange sight paint on the existing would work fine.

I appreciate the "likes" my old post to this thread is getting so I will post a current photo as soon as I recover from knee surgery and can navigate the stairs to my gun room to take a new photo. I no longer have several of the ones mentioned before but have at least as many others.
