686 + value and warranty?

Found a used, 686 + with the key lock and 4" barrel for $550 OTD. Has a very slight cant in the barrel, which is way better than what I usually see. Worth it? Also, if its new enough to have the lock, will S&W warranty it even though its used?

Given its current MSRP, it sounds to be a good price. The first ones with the IL were the -6, and well in the lifetime warranty time frame. I believe it is covered even for a non-original owner.

I'd say it's borderline. It's about $100 less than what a new one goes for.

There's too many of them out there that DON'T need to be sent back to buy one that does.

As per S&W's website, the lifetime warranty is only guaranteed to the original owner.
If you're going to spend $550 on a 686 with no warranty, well, do we need another IL-bashing thread?

I think I'd look for an older one for the money, but that's just me.
