Ok, I know- this isn't a fair comparison. I have the 686+ 4-inch (phenomenal gun and my 2nd) but I love the ergos of the 627 N-frame. The +1 round is a bonus.

Does anyone have both? General thoughts?

I have shot both and own the 686+. For me the L frame just feels better in my hands. I think I shoot it better as the bore axis also is a little lower than the N frame. Both are fine revolvers though. One reason I never opted for the 627 was because the one I like with the 5" barrel seem hard to find a holster for at the time... Maybe that's changed since then.

Good points. I've handled, but never fired, the 627.

I carry my 686+ in a chesty holster- but I have the option of carrying on my hip. The 627 may not be as easy to carry on the hip fully loaded.

I have both in 5" bbl. My TALO 686+ is every bit as accurate as my 627PC. Quit honestly, for the money, the 686+ is hard to beat. ;)

If you already have a 686+ then the next logical step is an 8-shot .357 .

Maybe a 327TRR8 ? I like it better than my 627PC.

It's lighter, but not too light (35oz -vs- 43oz.)

I only have the 627 PC 5" and the 586 PC L-Comp 3"

I love the longer barrel, the action of the trigger and the 8 round capacity. The grip fits me perfectly.

The 3" 586 is great, too. Excellent trigger.

My favorite, though, are revolvers in the 4x and up calibers, though.

I have a 686+ and a 627 Pro, both 4". The weight is about the same, but the balance is different. The 686 is more muzzle heavy. Both are excellent shooters.

I too have both a 686+ and a 627 pro. Like them both. My 686 + is a -4 model w/ a mountain stlye barrel. Very nice, and super accurate gun. I've shot my 627 quite a bit in some competitions and it is one of the most accurate guns I have.

For me, neither is better, both have their applications. I'm happy to own these two & wont let either of them go.

I bought my 627 Pro 4" last Dec. Like you, I could have chosen the 686 SSR, but there's something about the 627 that won me over. I sat them both down, and went back and forth between the two. There's only 1.5oz weight difference between the two, so that didn't make much of a difference to me.

In the end, but 627 just feels better in my hand. I don't regret my purchase, the revolver is a great firearm. Easy to shoot, great size, great weight.

...but I did have to get a trigger job, the stock trigger was crappy...
