Is there a different hand part number between the models 686 and 686+? Considering a 6 to 7 shot conversion and figure I'll need to fit a hand.

Thanks.

I went the other way and put a six shot cylinder in a 7 shot gun.
I never expected it to function but it went in and worked fine. with no modification.
I picked up two new hands off fleabay JIC and didn't need them.
YMMV

I have read, a bunch of times, that the hand is the same, in 6 & 7 shot revolvers.

It seems contradictory, that the part is the same. It seems that the 6 shot hand would over turn the cylinder, in a 7 shot. (and the other way around)

Does anyone KNOW that for a fact ?

Thanks for the input. I've heard a few mention that there seemed to be no apparent difference when switching and some say that hand fitting was needed. I would agree with JohnK's thinking about how it should work. Perhaps I should pick up the cylinder and a hand and go for it. If it doesn't work, I can switch back.
