Almost time to order a new revolver and now I notice the Pro series!
The 686+ comes in either a 3 or 4 inch barrel and I can live with either, holds 7 rounds.
The 686 Pro has a 4 inch barrel and holds 6 instead of 7, doesn't much matter to me.

But is there any difference in the actions or triggers? The Pro costs a little more but not by much. Would gladly pay the difference if the revolver is worth it.
What do you folks think?

686 Pro

I just bought the 686 Pro ssr and I'm very happy with it so far. I'm not sure how the trigger compares to the 686 Plus, but in my opinion I think the double action trigger pull is one of the best I've used and the single action pull is great too. The other part I like is the interchangeable front sight, to me this is a very desirable feature.

I would be partial to the 686+ for the additional round. I think it also can be found with a six inch barrel which I prefer.

If a good Trigger and 7 rounds is desired there are some 686+plus 7 shot models around with Performance Center triggers.

The review of one I saw on line looked very good.

I love the 686 SSR, as you can tell from my log-in name. I foolishly traded my first SSR for a Walther P5. What a mistake! I had to buy another. I like the easily interchangeable front sight. It simply snaps in and out. The SSR now sports a .250 SDM gold bead front sight, which works great with the factory rear sight. The trigger is both smooth and crisp. I suspect the SSR gets a little more TLC at the factory than a normal production 686?

Good luck with your choice.

I like the idea of being able to easily change out the front sight. But after thinking about it seems like I am getting away from why I sold the 6 inch 686, and that was to get one with a 3 inch barrel.
Thanks, but a 686 3 inch is what I plan on ordering.
Shouldn't of started this thread :)
