Hey all just bought my first revolver it's a brand new 686 6 shot with a 6 inch barrel. I've only fired 50 rounds through it and cleaned afterwards. While dry firing I've noticed that the double action trigger is normal most of the time but there are random trigger pulls where there is a resistance at the beginning of the squeeze and then a hard release, almost as if a piece is internally getting caught up on something. It does not happen on any specific cylinder; its completely random. I took a video but don't think i can upload it here.

If the resistance is happening right at the end of the trigger pull it could be long ratchets. It seems to be a recurring problem. Try pulling the trigger fully to the rear, past the release point, to see if it catches, or stays to the rear. (DA or SA)

Mine was the same so, first squirted oil onto the internals, I bought snap caps and dry fired a few 1000 times. It helped, but eventually replaced the spring, experimenting until I found a safe trigger pull weight.

It sounds like maybe the cylinder stop is not getting out of the notch in the cylinder before the hand tries to turn it. You might look at it from the side, cycle it very slowly, and see how closely timed the stop clearing and the cylinder beginning to turn are.
If the stop just barely clears when the cyl. starts to turn, it may be not quite clearing sometimes. If that is the case, the cyl. stop needs more engagement with the nose on the front of the trigger.
