Have to look at your gun to be sure, but you may be missing the features.
On the chamfering, it is just enough to break the sharp edges. Easier to feel than see, not like a visible funnel.

Try shooting it, maybe the good stuff is on the inside.

On the chamfering, my 586 L-Comp chambers were chamfered at the factory but only on the inside edge and not very much so one or two rounds would still hang up when using moonclips. I took it and a loaded moonclip to the gunsmith I use so he could work it a bit more for easier loading.

My three 627s all came like my 625JM - with eased ejector stars. That is sufficient for rounded bullets. The two PC627s in addition have a 'trigger stop', which is nothing more than a piece of a roll pin stuck in a hole on the back of the non-MIM trigger - and that's the key here. The pictures, in S&W's '09 catalog (Still awaiting the 20102 one!) and on their site alike, of the 686SSR, SKU #178012, depict such a 'trigger stop'. Of course, the description calls both the hammer and trigger as 'forged'. Check the SKU on your box. They raised the price from MSRP $1,059 to $1,090 - they shouldn't drop features.

BTW, two years ago I was in a similar position - wanted the 686SSR. It was not what I expected, the model I fondled having a poor trigger, too. Added to the nasty-feeling grips, and I opted for the 620 - but my pusher was out. Then - love at first sight - the 627 Pro (SKU #178014 - same MSRP as the 686SSR!) - it went home with - and I've tried to wear it out ever since. Better trigger, too - and I don't care about MIM parts on it!

Maybe your pusher will let you swap - if you haven't shot the one you have. Check out the other example. Good luck!
