69 stocks

Found some acceptable looking stocks for my 69. I've toyed with the idea over the last year of finding some combat stocks for it but never found the look I like. I prefer the look of the older factory L frame combats with the glossy finish, but not the new ones.

I found these new production Altamont's and decided to give them a try. Heck its the only S&W with a lock that I own so might as well try the new Altamont stocks as well. I was impressed with the fit, finish and look, not bad for a mass produced item. It also fills in the trigger guard gap better than the factory plastic grips.

I got them too, but they didn't feel right. Got out the die grinder and fixed it, for me at least.

What did you have to grind on? My fit much better than expected.

Not my revolver or stocks but it looks like he removed most or perhaps all of the finger grooves.

I have fairly small hands so the finger grooves went and I shortened the stocks 5/16". I also smoothed things out a bit to reduce printing. This is why gloves come in different sizes. I do think the originals were better looking. As they say, to each his own.

I also found those stocks a good choice.

And I also found them too large, I adjusted the finger grips upward for my smaller fingers and took some width off the sides. After fine sanding I used a buffing wheel with white rouge to restore the original sheen.

I put the X grip on mine, haven't looked back and this is now my EDC

I have the rubber Hogue Bantam Boot grips. I like the fit and feel but I don't really like how they go on. When I get some spare scratch I'll get their wood version. I got some of their wood versions for my 3" 629 RB and I like them a lot.

I put the Checkered version of those Grips on my New Colt Snubbie. I also have a 2.75" M69 but like the Stock grips for now.

How do they do with full house loads?
