Anyone seen anyone do it? Think S&W will ever do it?

Not sure why they would. The point of the 69, as I see it, is a LIGHTER 44 that handles more like a K frame than an N frame. If I wanted something easier to control, I'd just go for a bigger gun.

I have to agree with the above comment. The main attraction for the 69 is its size and weight. To change it to any degree offsets that desirability unless a shorter barrel is done.

model 69 looks awesome but the shrouded barrel has to go. nice satin finish. someone should tell s&w shrouded barrels are horrible & they are just hurting their own sales. lost opportunities to Ruger

What matters most to me is performance. When S&W first brought out the 2 piece barrels I though they were the worst idea ever. After shooting a friends Model 69 and liking it and then getting my own I have warmed up to the design a lot. While maybe not as pleasing to the eye in my experience with my 69 it is a great performer and I would not hesitate to try another. This is one S&W shooter that is not about to stampede to Ruger over this design.

How about a 69 the profile of a 986 barrel.
Better still. A 986 in 44 Magnum. Titanium cylinder too.
