Hi guys. I just got a mint 6906. Anybody got a line on mags? S&W has discontinued them.

All mags, I did not know that. They ran out of the 10 round restricted ones a while back. Living in the peoples republic of NY we are restricted to that.

Longer mags that hang below the gun from a larger one in that series will fit also. Before the law was changed I had a couple of if I remember correctly 15 or 18 round capacity!

S&W OEM 12-rounders are out there, but not getting any cheaper as time goes on. A local shop has them for $35-$40 each. S&W OEM 10-rounders are getting downright scarce and costly as more and more states go full moonbat on us. :o

Robertson Trading Post is selling 6900-series Mec-Gar 10-rounders made (by them) from Mec-Gar 5900-series 10-rounders. I don't like them, but your mileage may vary.

As least two other companies have recently offered brand new 12-round 6900-series aftermarket magazines very similar to the S&W OEM originals. They appear to be sold out right now, but could come back into stock at any time.

I just got a couple from Every Gun Part . Someone else posted about these guys . They sell it all , parts , build kits , and mags . I ordered them and got them in 3 days , Fedex . Good people .

Sad to hear. A couple of years ago I bought some S&W boxed 6906 magazines from Midway. They didn't work. I sent them to S&W and they sent me new ones that worked fine. I hate to hear they don't have any left anymore.

Mec-gar is still selling 59xx mags that work in the 69xx gun and the +2 grip adapter is still available..... while I don't use them a primary they are great as spare mags for the range or cc.

This setup using the full size 5906 mags with the handle extender works very well..OEM 5906 mags hold 15 + one in the chamber is 16 rounds in a compact gun. Thats how I carry my 6906.....

One of the aftermarket mag makers is making a 17 round mag
for the 5906...anyone know who that manufacturer is?....If they work with the handle extender that would be 18 rounds in a compact 6906.....thats better yet.....BG

It is MecGar, and the S&W grip adapter works with their 15 rd mags, but not the 17s. The lip on the bottom of the 17 rd models is different than the 15 rd ones and the original S&W 2nd and 3rd gen 9mm double stack mags. I have tried.

I have both a 5906 and a 6906, as well as a Kel Tec P-11, and a whole mess of various mags. Tried all sorts of combos.

The grip adapter (it is NOT an extension!!!!!) is S&W part number 24242. At least they can look them up under that number. You MUST get the metal floor plate with it. Make sure the S&W order rep knows and acknowledges that 24242 consists of 2 parts. The plastic floor plates don't work with the sleeve adapter. If you have made them work, please share. Send me a PM.

I have a couple of those adapters and the only warning I have is watch the bottom of your support hand during a speed load...it is real easy to pinch the meaty part of your hand between the adapter and the magwell...

Sad that Smith is no longer supporting previous generation guns... I have a couple of 6906s that I carried as an LEO and they have always run 100%...

The +2 adapters reallly make the 15 rd mag balance nicely. Had mine for a 6946 I should never have traded. You have to jump on 6900 series 12 rd mags when you see them, but you may want to look at Wolff to respiring them if needed.

The adapters from Precision Gun Specialties come with a flat plastic floorplate.

I just get them at the local gun show. There is a vendor who approaches all the FFL's to buy the extra mags from guns traded in. A FFL might buy a pre owned gun that came with 3 mags. He will sell the gun with 1 mag, & sell the other 2 to the mag vendor. So far I have purchase a 3913, & 469 mag from him for $20 each. All original factory. GARY

I was able to buy six brand new S&W 6906 OEM magazines in original boxes from Triangle Shooting Range in Raleigh, NC in 2016 . I don't remember what I paid for them, but I think I paid about $22 USD a magazine. I also bought six Mecgar 5900 series magazines for $20 each. I am so glad I was able to stock up
