696 3 inch ....

I wish they would bring it back too but also in longer barrel lengths. I have been on this forum in the recent past wishing and hoping Smith would do this. its a great revolver. I hope others have written , emailed , contacted via pony express , etc. smith and wesson about this. The 2011 shot show is coming and maybe they will make this anouncement the 696 is back. We can only hope. Otherwise it will be 2inch niteguard revolvers in 500 magnum with pink grips or a camouflage 1911 in with a laser sight mounted on a helmet that shooter wears or some such nonsense. hey hope everyone reading this had a great Christmas and has a Happy New Year!!!!

696

I just bought one of the Lew Horton 696 for 550.00.
They are out there for reasonable prices if you look and are lucky.

I just picked one up yesterday. It almost seems brand new. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet. I'll probably carry Silvertips in it.

I love the 696, Been looking for one IN CALIFORNIA for several years. ( sub $900) Kalifornia rules don't like old revolvers from FREE AMERICA. For some INSANE left wing reasoning new revolvers Identical to the old ones are OK but the old ones from F.A. are dangerous. OH to live in AMERICA again!!!!!

If they were to bring back the 696 it would have a lock and be other-wise modified to fit the new "cost cutting" requirements. Bet a lot of people who want one would be turned off and they wouldn't sell well enough to stay in production.

Sad but true,
Dave

It took me 6 months to find mine in California. Good luck.

I made the serious mistake of letting one of these get away a couple of years ago. I WON'T repeat that mistake if I ever have the opportunity again.

Stolen Lew Horton 3" 629

Hey folks, my Dad left me a 1982 vintage Horton 629 with a three inch barrel. Serial number ws was ANC6913, houston P.D. incident number132734208-y. I would really like to get this gun back, it was stolen on 09-11-08 from my car. It was in a Browning pistol rug in a green canvas bag with six speed loaders all were loaded with winchester silvertips. If any of you have seen this gun please email me at [email protected]. Thanks, John Bideler "garand user". A nice bonus would allow me to let the thief be visited by a 175gr Sierra Match King at 600-700 yards but I have given up on that pipe dream. Any help would be appreciated.
