7.62/308 question

Keep us up to date on the project. I bought a lot of surplus .308 ammo and have not been home to try it out!

It seems like it would be a lot less work to sell it as is and buy what you want. South African 7.62 is popular. You won't have any problem selling the ammo, but you may not want to deal with shipping it.

I havent figured out where to sell it at...shipping would just be through UPS or Fedex and pay the hazardous fee. Anyway that is how it appears.

First , if the case does not have the NATO cir-cross headstamp , there's no gaurentee that it's made to NATO spec.

The owners manual that came with my DPMS LR-308 warns against using South African mil and PMP commercial ammo as there have been many issues of extremely soft brass across several lots.

NATO max pressure spec (50,000 psi) is lower than commercial .308 Win pressure standard (55,000psi).

OTOH , It has worked fine in my Springfield Armory M-1A and was fairly accurate.

Hope this helps.

SWGG...I have been thinking along those lines, I would only need to trim about .015 off of them, but all of my case length gauges require a primer flash hole.
Grover....use a drill press. Mount the case in a chuck (I have some) and then use an endmill in the drill chuck and set a stop on the quill and its duck soup.
