7 hr layover in DC, what would you see?

So what I actually did was......

I took the Blue Line to the Smithsonian exit. First I went to the Holocaust Museum. That was very good but very depressing. After 1 ½ floors I left. Next I walked down to the Air and Space Museum. To me that was very interesting. They had a very informative WW1 exhibit and obviously some historic aircraft. The two that impressed me was a B26B, Flak Bait, which flew 202 bombing missions in WW2 and The Spirit of St. Louis. I had no idea the Spirit of St Louis was so SMALL!!!!! I’d have been nervous trying to fly across Lake Erie in that craft, little lone the Atlantic.

Next I went to the National Museum of the American Indian. At first I was very disappointed until I finally found the floor with the collections. After that I took the Metro back to the motel, picked up my luggage and took a shuttle to the airport. Ironically one of the most relaxing things about the trip was on the way to the airport I picked up a copy of Mark Twains The Innocents Abroad at a used book store. I’ve not read anything by Twain other than a few short stories for probably 35 years. However I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this book.
