I'm going to be picking up a 9mm Shield to use as another CCW gun. I'm interested in seeing how many folks actually prefer the 8 rd. mag for CCW.

Appreciate any input you may have.

I use the 8 round due to the extra length for gripping purposes. I don't think it makes hardly any difference in concealment due to the position and angle of the grip.

I would have to say whatever you are more comfortable with. I went through the same thing with my mp40c. Weather are not to cc with the extended mag. At first I carried with the extended mag but after several rounds of practice I'm just as comfortable without the extended mag. I do prefer to cc without the extended mag as a with this gun I carry iwb at 5 o'clock

Extended mag with Pearce extension. Extra round, feels good in the hand, and no problem concealing it. Works for me.

All of my 7 rounders have Pearce extensions for my large hands. I've carried with both the 7 and 8..........gonna stick with the 8 round mag because I see little, if any difference between the 7 round (with Pearce) and the 8 round with regard to "printing".

The gun has the 7 rnd in it and the 8 rnd is with me. the 8 rnd hits the palm and will not drop free if a reload would be needed but the 7 rnd does not touch the palm and does drop free.

Appreciate your comments folks. I probably should have also specified in my OP that I will primarily be carrying this gun IWB, and occasionally OWB. I don't pocket carry personally (just my preference), but I enjoy hearing everyone's input all the same.

I use the flush fit magazine for concealed carry, every little but helps when it comes to concealment.

My 8 round mag has only been used at the 1st range session and in the box ever since.
I mostly Pocket carry and very rarely carry IWB (in a Remora). Since you're going to be carrying IWB, as long as the extended mag doesn't print, go with the extra round.

I prefer the 8 rd., both the 7 and 8 have pearce extensions .

I have one 7 round mag and four 8 rounders. I always carry one of the 8 round mags. I carry concealed in a good IWB holster, and I have found no real benefit when carrying with a 7 rounder in place. It's easier to get a good grip when drawing from the holster, the gun fits my hand better, I shoot better, and there are no negatives for me with the 8 rounder. We are all different and carry different ways. So that makes the choice a personal one.

I carry the 8 rd almost all the time. It conceals fine for me and I like having the extra round and full grip. The 7 rd does feel smaller though and less likely to get caught on something like a chair back. It depends how it fits you in your holster setup. Try the 8 rd and see if it's ok for you.

FWIW, I IWB the Shield with the factory 7rnd magazine in-place, 8rnd magazine in a single carrier for reload as needed. YMMV
